Iran mahu wujudkan satu sistem ekonomi baharu mereka.

Ramai penonton Amerika terhibur melihat rumah kediaman rasmi presiden mereka ranap menjadi debu.

CYNICS AND SCEPTICS AND BLOGGING IN MALAYSIA.

…IS THAT ALL THAT IT CAN CREATE?
By Mansor Puteh

THE CYBER WORLD AND BLOGGING AMONGST MALAYSIANS HAVE PROVEN THAT THEY HAVE NOT REALLY BENEFITED THEM AS WHAT WAS EXPECTED FOR THEM TO DO.

THEY ARE JUST FOR SOCIAL COMMUNICATION AND WHICH LATER BECAME A TOOL OF DISSENT AND THE CREATION OF A NEW GENERATION OF CYNICS AND SKEPTICS, AND GIVING THOSE WHO WERE NON-EXISTENT TO BE SOMEBODY WHOM THEY THINK SO HIGHLY OF.

IN THE END THEY FAILED TO REALIZE THAT THEY HAD INDEED TRAMPLED THE DEMOCRACY THAT THEY CLAIM TO BE CHAMPIONING FOR WHICH THEY ARE NOW ENCOURAGING ANARCHY TO REIGN.

Anarchy at its best, to them, is total democracy, where laws and institutions are to be disregarded and those who have the talent to distract anyone can be hailed as the new heroes of the land; for they are the ones who are looking after the conscience of the country of this new generation.

That they are the only person who cares so much for the future of the people and country.

Yet, they disregard the democratic process and do not believe in having general elections or holding referendums. These are annoyances that the true democrats cannot bear with.

Unfortunately, not many people in Malaysia are taken by them; they can go on shouting till their voice becomes coarse and yet, nothing happens as the average Malaysians prefer to do it the old and conventional way of going to the polls and electing those whom they think can best represent them.

Worse, when the bloggers find themselves that time is catching on them so that when the right time comes, they will go down into their shallow graves and without leaving anything behind for the future generations to wonder at other than to feel a disdain for.

They do not bequeath a legacy of hope but despair and confusion; a legacy which cannot be etched on any marble and put on display, for there once lived a true Malaysian who did not care for race, color or skin and who was a true hero of the land.

They will all die without leaving behind a tradition that can be used by the others after them; they are their own persons, their own organization and movement – their own one-man think tank which is essentially empty which gave a lot of sounds and noises.

Malaysia is quick to create cynics and skeptics who play the racial card which they claim to be not doing. But the truth is that this is what they have been doing all this while, for without the race and religious and nationalistic card, they won’t have any bone of contention with anyone, other than with their predecessors or parents whose parents had chosen to come to the land in order to survive, for without the initiative, they would have perished and starved like many of their relatives and close friends had experienced.

So the internet and blogging are nothing but on race and religion. And after more than a decade of internetting and blogging, some Malaysians have become confused with many issues.

These are basically the preoccupation of a small fraction of the society. But the noise they make looks like there are many more who are like them.

What we have seen is that they have created more skeptics and cynics in the country today than we had before.

Any issue can be twisted and queries form the basis for disputes, while authority has been degraded.

Laws are also trampled with impunity in the name of fair-play, democracy and the freedom of speech and of expression.

But alas, the press for such freedoms and also of the press has seen more Malaysians using the court in their bid to clean their image by instituting action suits for defamation claiming exorbitant amounts, while deaths on the highways are not worth anything.

In Malaysia, it seems that the 'air muka' (literally 'water face') or legally, standing and image of a person is said to be more expensive, especially those in politics and the fast lane, compared to the ordinary bus passengers and the other members of the public who are killed and maimed, while the members of parliament and other petty politicians spend their time speaking in the many 'ceramah' every day and night mostly talking on the same tired issues which should have been settled at the ballot box.

Malaysians who blog and write commentaries posted in many of them are so busy writing. But alas most of them do not spend too much time thinking, so much so that they have been turned to cynics and skeptics, who have a lot of grouses to share with the others, which in turn manage to make them worse cynics and skeptics they were when they first started to blog and use the internet for social communication.

Is this what the internet and cyberworld have managed to make many of them?

There are not many who write intelligently using their names so that they are not seen to be cowards who hide behind pseudonyms, where they can spout venoms of incomprehensible words.

But what thrill do they get from doing that since no one could 'acknowledge' them for what 'brilliance' that they had shown?

It was like in the old days of scratching weird thought on walls in public toilets, that are read but whose works could not be acknowledged as the writers were people who refused to show their faces or tell who they are.

It is sad that such 'brilliance' and the 'intellectual properties' that they had created cannot be claimed by the original authors and copyright cannot be given to them.

When will Malaysians learn how not to be cynical or skeptical with everything that they hear or read about, all of which do have possibilities of being turned into issues for debates?

Are public debates on those issues necessary to prove one's intellect, or it is just to bring out the cynic and skeptic in them?

ABUSE OF THE LOBBIES OF PARLIAMENT AND THE COURT BUILDINGS BY THE PARLIAMENTARIANS, PRESSMEN AND PUBLIC. – PART II.

…STOP TURNING SECONDARY NEWS AND CHARACTERS AS PRIMARY ONES.
By Mansor Puteh

IN THE PAST, WHEN I WAS REPORTING FOR UTUSAN MELAYU, WE DID NOT DARE LOITER IN THE LOBBY OF PARLIAMENT.

IN FACT, WE DID NOT BOTHER WITH THE MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT WHEN THEY WERE NOT IN THE HOUSE. AND REPORTS WERE ONLY ON WHAT THEY HAD SAID OR DONE IN THE TWO HOUSES AND NOT IN THE LOBBY AREA.

BUT NOT LONG AFTER THAT, ALL HELL SEEMS TO HAVE BROKEN LOSE, WITH THE EDITORS OF SOME OF THE NEWSPAPERS WHO THOUGHT THEY WERE SMART BY ASSIGNING THEIR REPORTERS – THE PARLIAMENT REPORTERS – TO COVER NOT SO MUCH THE PROCEEDINGS IN DEWAN RAKYAT AND DEWAN NEGARA, BUT THE LOBBY OF PARLIAMENT.

Worse, the media has turned secondary news into prime news and secondary characters into primary ones.

This is good for them so they have variety so the small characters can demand attention and their say which has resulted in the creation of the Ugly Malaysian Journalism that dwells and thrives on the irrelevant, inconsequential and the profane.

So they are not the ‘parliament reporters’ but ‘the parliament lobby reporters’.

There is now a scene each time parliament seats.

At least these reporters do not converge on the appointed senators for additional comments and remarks to add to those they had said in Dewan Negara.

The reason is probably what they can say in it does not make good news as their questions and the answers they can get in the house are banal ones.

I had also covered Dewan Negara to know what I’m saying here.

What can one expect from senators who are not elected to office by the voters, but who are appointed by their respective political parties?

Most of them are old and many of them, like those in the lower house are not smart enough to ask intelligent questions.

There is one who is said to represent the entertainment industry. He is in the mid-seventies and not an important force in the industry having spent his energy at an earlier time.

He was selected to be in Dewan Negara, but not at any one time, did he bring matters concerning the industry to the house. He talks about the other issues which he is not suppose to touch.

He was also the chairman of Finas.

How could this be, I thought.

So I lodged a complaint with the Biro Pengaduan Awam or BPA who then took action to have him removed as chairman of Finas.

How could he function as senator representing the entertainment industry while being chairman of the national agency?

The chairman did not know who forced him to leave Finas. And when I enquired with him about the clash of interests of being senator and chairman of Finas, he said the other senators could raise the issues concerning the industry in Dewan Negara.

I thought this was such a stupid answer. He and not any of the other senators are assigned to look after the industry which the minister of information, culture and heritage had thought would be the best person to represent the industry in the house.

And now he said he could refrain from doing so by virtue of him being chairman of Finas and a senator.

In the end he chose to leave his chairmanship of Finas and is now in his second and last term as senator.

The entertainment industry had thought he would be vocal in the Dewan Negara bringing pertinent issues on it for the ministry to act on.

But alas, he had become a silly senator who had not been known to raise anything on the entertainment industry whose own leaders had to bring them to the ministry and the media.

Can someone lodge a police report to stop anyone from using or misusing the lobby of parliament and the courts as places for the gathering of reporters and the lawyers to conduct their outside of parliament and court businesses?

Can the special area in the lobby of parliament which had been designated for press conferences be removed, since there is no provision in law for such a facility to be created there.

Don’t the law makers and lawyers know this?

Where in the world have the lobby of their parliament and court houses been used in such a crass manner?

Major news in Malaysia are often created in these two lobbies.

If they are deemed to be out of bounds to the pressmen, then surely, Malaysia will be in a better state of being, with no unnecessary controversies and scandals which are most of the time created here.

In the recent past they were created in the many ‘ceramah’ organized by political parties, mostly those in the opposition where there is a no-holds barred, with everybody allowed to say pretty much what the others had said before.

But attending the ‘ceramah’ can be daunting to the reporters as the environment is often not safe.

It is a lot safer in the lobbies of parliament and the courts.

So these have become their second newsroom where they could manufacture the type of news they want all the time, by first putting words in the mouths of those who are in the middle of the storm.

They react and cause a chain of reaction which is good to feed the media with.

Once in a while they are at the receiving end. Yet, they persist.

No opposition leader has ever been known to be banned by the newspaper organizations for having said anything negative about Malaysian journalism and the journalists. They need them to provide news for their papers.

Even when Robert Fisk, the noted reporter for The Independent of London and their correspondent in the Middle East remarked that the English language newspapers in Malaysia are ‘deplorable’, he was still given a proper write-up by those newspapers, whose writers and columnists avoid repeating the statement.

Can Malaysian journalism survive without ambush journalism at the lobby of parliament and the courts? Maybe not.

Here is the only place where they can find interesting news for the front-page.

They can never get news on how intelligent Malaysians are, but on how crass and silly they are.

No wonder many Malaysians want to be crass and silly as they are seen as interesting persons.

Intelligent and smart or civic-minded Malaysians are not good to Malaysian journalism.

ABUSE OF THE LOBBIES OF PARLIAMENT AND THE COURT BUILDINGS BY THE PARLIAMENTARIANS, PRESSMEN AND PUBLIC. – PART I.

…BAN UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS FROM COVERGING IN THESE LOBBIES.
By Mansor Puteh

IN SOME COUNTRIES JUST BY GOING TO A POLICE STATION ONE CAN BE CHARGED FOR TRESPASSING AND BE AMPLY FINED FOR THAT!

IN MALAYSIA, ONE CAN CREATE A RIOT THERE AND ALSO IN THE LOBBIES OF PARLIAMENT AND THE COURTS AND FEEL TRIUMPHANT, NEVER MIND CAUSING UNNECESSARY RUCKUSS IN THE COMPOUND OF POLICE STATIONS WITH USELESS STREET THEATER.

DO THE LAWMAKERS AND OTHER POLITICIANS AND MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC IN MALAYSIA KNOW THAT THEY ARE ABUSING THESE AREAS?

Were the lobby of the parliament and the courts ever designated as places where the representatives from the media and the public can do their job of ambushing the parliamentarians?

Were the same lobbies been designated for places for the members of parliament and lawyers to hold their official press conferences at and the public to loiter at?

There is even a special corner in the lobby of the parliament where press conferences can be held. Who approved this? Was there any debate on this in parliament and by the members of the public?

Isn’t it such an awkward place for the lobby of the parliament to have? It is rowdy at times where all hells had broken lose on many occasions with allegations and counter allegations made.

Most unnecessary news, scandals and controversies have been created here and at no other place.

But what the newspaper editors do not know is that they are trying to get their reporters to get follow-up stories on what is debated in parliament, when the issues are not reported yet and made known to their readers and public.

They want to jump the gun.

This probably means that what the members of parliament have said in it to be uninteresting or not intelligent, as only those that touch on sensitive issues seem to get more attention than those views and proposals that are useful to the country and people.

No wonder, the media have unknowingly created fools out of some of the members of parliament who seem to enjoy being the center of attention for being clowns that they do not realize that they have all become.

And there are only a handful of them who want to look like clowns. They say some of the most idiotic things. They can never serve anyone but themselves.

So no wonder, not many smart and intelligent people who have been attracted to run for parliament.

Only those who do not have much else to do or who are stuck in politics who are interested to stay on since the road ends there with most of them.

They do not have a life. They can never move on to doing better things abroad where it matters more.

They are such a pathetic lot for having stayed on in politics for so long, and for some of them to be given posts in the cabinet from one ministry to another like it is easy to create leaders this way.

In Malaysia, ‘leaders’ can be created from nowhere and from nothing. A person can be an unknown, yet, the next day he is somebody worthy of attention.

Their only claim to fame is that they are able to allow themselves to be subservient to the higher authorities in their own party so this way they could rise in their party hierarchy.

In most other developed and civilized countries, ministers are not moved from one ministry to the other. They are given the post once. They cannot be reshaped and be reborn to become ministers of any other portfolio.

So that is why one can see how unparliamentary they are by shouting and complaining and not knowing how and when to speak in any debate.

They seem to enjoy being in the center of attention despite knowing how clownish they are.

They aim not to speak to the speaker or to the others in the hall, but to the media.

So as long as the media gives them ample coverage they will repeat what they do all the time.

The fact that this is the trend in Malaysian politics proves that all the political parties in the country do not have a pool of people whom they can develop to become their new generation of leaders.

They still have to use the same persons for different roles, even if the former roles they were given were not executed well.

And where one can see this happen? The parliament lobby and other functions where they give lengthy speeches that are not directed to anyone.

And by being prodded by the media, they gaffe and in the process few defamatory suits have also been known to emanate from the unnecessary discourses that had taken place here. They mostly involve personal issues concerning their interpretation of things.

And all this happened while the issues debated in parliament are sidelined. This caused laws which should have been passed by parliament to ensure public safety are not done.

Front-page and controversial news in Malaysia seem to be created at these two places – the lobbies of parliament and the courts.

Can we blame all this on the many courtroom television dramas from America that were broadcast on Malaysian television in the 1960s and 1970s for having given the lawyers, politicians and journalists an idea of how they ought to conduct their official and official businesses so they can be seen to have absorbed some form of the American experience in their lives?

Unfortunately, not many of those characters central in the Malaysian political scene and of journalism have had prior experiences living and studying in America.

So this explains why and how they are too eager to Americanize their behavior and attitudes.

Most of the characters were students at a time when questioning the authority of the teachers was taboo. So now that they have gained some measure of authority themselves, they start to reverse what they had experience and now want to start questioning everything.

To them, there is no authority other than themselves. They have become the beast they had tried to belittle when they were young. And they are the untouchables – being people of high standing who can afford to be dragged into controversies.

Not being in any controversy is not being modern or advanced.

MELAYU WITH CHINESE AND INDIAN FEATURES: IT IS ESTIMATED THAT THIRTY PERCENT OF THE MELAYU HAVE CHINESE AND TWENTY PERCENT WITH INDIAN ANCESTRY.

…THE MORE I ASK THE MORE I FIND THAT ONE OF THEIR PARENTS OR GRANDPARENTS WAS A FORMER CHINESE OR INDIAN.
By Mansor Puteh

I SAY ‘WAS CHINESE’ OR ‘WAS INDIAN’ BECAUSE THEY DID NOT WANT TO BE DESCRIBED AS THOSE MELAYU WHO HAVE CHINESE OR INDIAN ANCESTRY.

I DID A ROUGH CHECK AND FOUND THIS IS SO.

MORE AND MORE MELAYU MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE NOW LOOKING MORE AND MORE ORIENTAL WITH FAIR SKIN. THEY COULD PASS FOR THE CHINESE.

There are many Melayu women who have Chinese ancestry were ‘forced’ to wear the ‘tudung’ because they did not want people, especially strangers to think they are Chinese.

And in fact, all of my relatives have Chinese ancestry so much so that I have till today been confused for being a Chinese by strangers or a foreign tourist if I am seen with a digital camera or video camera at hotels or other tourists places.

And the Chinese stranger would speak with me in Chinese while the Melayu would speak with me in Melayu with a thick accent.

The police inspector at one police station where I had the occasion to do business with asked quite innocently why I had a Melayu name. I said I am Melayu.

He probably thought I was a recent revert to Islam, or I was having a fake MyKad.

Most of the times, when I met with some old friends and somehow the conversation steered to the issues of race, I then discovered and was told that they, too, have Chinese ancestry.

Their mother or grandmother was Chinese.

So no wonder, they look fair and have small eyes.

My eyes were very small when I was a small boy in Melaka so much so that my mother had to apply eyeliners or ‘celak’ to make them look wider.

That was the most interesting experience I had to endure each time she did that.

In fact, all my brothers and sisters had to wear the ‘celak’ then.

But these days Melayu who also have small eyes do not wear that anymore as there are now many of them who have small eyes or ‘Chinese eyes’.

Sometimes this appeared in informal conversations with friends and other strangers who admit they too have Chinese or Indian ancestry.

My other relatives whose parent married Melayu men or women do not have Chinese features. They have dark skin.

But I also have relatives who were Chinese and who were given to other members of my family but who did not care about it. But it shows in the faces of their children with many of them who do not have Chinese features.

But if one were to look at them closer, one can see their Chinese features.

And there are also many Melayu who have Indian features. Those who have them also have similar experiences as those who have Chinese features.

And they are mostly those who ancestors had reverted Islam. Many of them can be found in Pulau Pinang and Kedah have Indian features.

In fact, all the Melayu and Muslims in Malaysia can trace their ancestry to the Hindus when they were so, when the country and the whole region was in the Hindu or Buddhist sphere.

Their influence stretched for many centuries and all across Southeast Asia.

So one can imagine how there were so many Hindu and Buddhist temples all over the countries in the region.

But they were all demolished when Islam came to the country and region. The only temples left are remnants of the ancient Hindu and Buddhist past as can be seen in the Borobudur and Prambanan temples in Jawa and those in the Bujang Valley in Kedah.

This is the Melayu, a unique race or people who have those and the other ancestries. Yet they are Melayu to the core.

There are so few ‘real Melayu’ these days, and most of them are the Orang Asli or Natives of the country who live deep in the interiors of the country, who did not have the advantage of mixed marriage or the interaction with the others.

So they still maintain their original features.

The young Orang Asli, however, have started to change drastically the more educated they become and the more they start to leave their remote villages to lead a normal life in the city and its fringes.

Many have claimed that the Orang Asli or whom they are also referred to as the Orang Asal are the original inhabitants of the country.

They are right to a certain historical and anthropological extent, but not right in the political one.

They are Old Melayu, regardless of which tribe they belong to. The Melayu are also the original inhabitants of the country. The only difference between them and the Orang Asal is that their ancestors had long left the remote villages and had become modern, especially when they reverted to Islam which changed their character and behavior as well as lifestyle.

In fact, most of the passionate Melayu are those who have these ancestries including those with English or European ancestry.

And if one looks at the many Melayu women, especially, one can see how Chinese they are with small eyes and fair skin.

The Melayu boys and men are no different.

In fact, more and more Melayu babies look very Chinese when they were born.

‘I AM MALAYSIAN – BUT I ONLY SEE FILMS AND WATCH ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAMS FROM HONG KONG AND INDIA!

…I DON’T EVEN SEE MELAYU FILMS OR WATCH MELAYU PROGRAMS ON TELEVISION BECAUSE THE MANDARIN AND TAMIL MEDIA HAVE DISCOURAGED US FROM DOING THAT.’
By Manor Puteh

WHAT IS 1MALAYSIA WITHOUT 1MALAYSIAN JOURNALISM, 1SEKOLAH AND 1EVERYTHING ELSE?

THERE ARE SOME SMART MALAYSIANS WHO WANT THE OTHERS TO LOOK AT THEM AS MORE MALAYSIANS THAN THE OTHERS; AND THEY ARE 1MALAYSIANS!

THEY CLAIM TO HAVE NO RACIAL OR RELIGIOUS BIAS AND THEY ARE PATRIOTIC AND NATIONALISTIC TO THE CORE.

But alas, they are only saying so without actually meaning it and showing it.

What they cannot or dare to admit is their continued admiration for things foreign – meaning Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Chennai and Mumbai and even America or the west.

Are they then 1Malaysian?

Their journalism is nothing Malaysian, but more Hong Kong, India and America. So is their music.

So who are they to say they are all for 1Malaysia?

And some newspapers which are controlled and dominated by the non-Melayu are also trying to pretend that they subscribe to the 1Malaysia Concept. They go out of their way but just a little to publish 1Malaysia stories.

But alas, this is just talk. They are far from embracing the 1Malaysia concept. They are 1HongKong or 1India to the core.

Chances are this won’t change, and they will not want to do it on their own, as this would mean that they would be doing away with their own private and personal principles.

It will have to take some form of government control to ensure that the 1Malaysia concept be extended to Malaysian journalism, so we can get a 1Malaysian Journalism in the country, the kind of journalism that does favors to the country and one which supports this concept.

The ministry of home affairs or KDN has to introduce stringent measures to ensure that the newspapers and other publications as well as the television and radio stations comply with this concept or else their licenses can be withdrawn.

The owners of these organizations must be made or even forced to realize their wayward ways and mend, so they can be seen to support the concept.

In the west, the government did not have to do all this, so they are seen to be less repressive. But the truth is that the newspaper and other media organizations do it on their own.

They were all trained to do it, irregardless of whether their relevant ministries or agencies want to encourage them to do it or not; they do it on their own accord.

In Malaysia, with the media being in control of many non-Melayu the owners often use whatever platforms they have to propagate the propaganda of their own race and religion. And it is so obvious how they are doing this.

So just who are they trying to fool?

They can fool the government or the minister of home affairs and get their KDN permits because the minister is blind and is not too concerned about the whole thing since he can keep himself busy doing a lot of things for his party so he can neglect his duties as the minister whose duty is to ensure that whatever license that it gives, must be use to the advantage of the country and not to the others.

Since the 1Malaysia Concept was first introduced by Najib, it has been taken by many to all directions.

They created new slogans from this theme slogan. Many songs and dance routines have been created which benefited some composers, musicians and singers.

Other than that it has also directly benefited those companies that print tee-shirts, buntings, buttons and badges with the 1Malaysia logos.

But they are just kidding, when in truth nothing has changed.

1Malaysia needs 1Malaysian Journalism and 1Malaysia-Everything for it to succeed and to be meaningful. It should not just stop at the slogans and sloganeering and must be taken beyond these and affect the whole system and our way of life, too.

Chances are, Malaysians who are not Melayu will only embrace the 1Malaysia Concept as a mere slogan but not wholeheartedly.

They will forever become part of their Diasporas and are happy to be so, without having to admit it and say so. But their actions are clear.

So far, since the 1Malaysia Concept was introduced, there has not been any change in the general attitude of many of the Chinese and Indians.

There is only some vocal or literary admission of its general acceptance with some claiming to be Malaysian. This is only in their outlook.

But deep inside of them, they are still very much whom they were. And this won’t likely to chance despite the country now having the concept which has somewhat made some of the non-Melayu feel slightly guilty. But they are still not remorseful.

The older generation of non-Melayu can never change despite their admission that they are with the introduction of the concept.

The younger generation of non-Melayu can accept it but not wholeheartedly. They can be programmed to do so, because they are more adaptable compared to their parents and grandparents who are steadfast in their beliefs and biases or prejudices that have been jaundiced by their invisible fears created by the more vocal and expressive members of the communities.

Maybe what the country needs is more of the same slogan which can create a more inclusive change in the whole perception and attitudes of the younger generation of Malaysians, regardless of what their race and religion are.

They are whom this country can and must depend more to create the true meaning of the 1Malaysia Concept.

Their parents are basically gone cases; they live in another world in the Open China which is what’s causing many of the Chinese in Malaysia to feel a lot of consternation, especially amongst those who are still trapped in the time warp of not knowing where they are. China has changed while they are still nowhere.

They realized that the China that they had remembered and wanted to be part of, even in their imagination, is not there anymore. China which was closed is now opened. It can still receive the, but they are now not willing to physically return to the country of the birth of their ancestors because China does not hold any future for them. Only Malaysia does.

And this is where most of the older Chinese in Malaysia is at now, the displaced Chinese even in the Chinese Diaspora.

The Indians are also in similar positions, with the young now being able to accept Malaysianization more than their parents did. Their political leaders are still harping on old and dated issues which the younger generation of Indians does not have any reason to be interested in.

They are only for Indian political discourses used by so few of the Indian leaders.

BYE, BYE, TO LATE ALIBIS…

SODOMY TRIALS SHOULD BE VERY EASY TO SETTLE, UNLESS IF THERE ARE ATTEMPTS TO TAKE THEM ROUND AND ROUND SO THAT A CONVICTION WITH AN OBVIOUS AND PREDICTABLE OUTCOME IS UNNECESSARILY DELAYED.
By Mansor Puteh

WHO SAID SODOMY TRIALS ARE MORE DIFFICULT TO SETTLE THAN THOSE INVOLVING MOLEST CASES?

THAT MAY ONLY BE TRUE IF THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN ACCUSED OF SODOMY HAVE A BANK OF LAWYERS. BUT IT’S NOT SO IF THEY ARE UNKNOWNS WHO DO NOT HAVE MUCH TO LOSE ANYWAY.

DID SOMEONE SERVE THE CAUSE OF THE PERSECUTION WHEN HE SPILLED THE BEANS ON HOW SOMEONE IN THE DEFENSE TEAM OF A CELEBRATED SODOMY TRIAL IS SAID TO BE INVOLVED IN A ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIIP WITH THE VICTIM?

Couldn’t the person keep his mouth shut and allow the trial to go on unhindered so that if there is a judgment on it, the defense can use the mysterious ‘romantic’ links between a junior member of the persecution team and the victim to turn the judgment in their favor instead?

Who was the blogger serving then? Has he managed to destroy the case for the prosecution that way? I doubt it. He may only have provided blank bullets to the defense to create a circus who can now put the matter behind their backs for a while.

The blogger always insisted that the cases he are faced with rest on the prosecution to prove and not for him to deny. Yet, in many instances, he has written things which convict people by making mere allegations.

It was like the lawyers who charged a particular building had not been ready for occupancy where an alleged sodomy had taken place. This left the prosecution to create a new date for the sodomy to happen.

If the lawyers had kept quiet about this fact on the construction of the building, and allowed the trial to proceed unhindered, the verdict could have easily been denounced and overturned.

Someone had written in the internet on how he had passed by the building in Bangsar many times and found that it could not have been ready at the material time when the sodomy had taken place.

This information was seized by the defense team who used it wrongly and too prematurely.

But the central issue of this analysis concerns something different yet related to the issue, which is on sodomy trials versus molest trials.

There seems to be some smart lawyers who are trying to tell everybody that sodomy trials are more difficult to handle than those concerning molest?

And why must this be so, when molest trials have been executed so expeditiously which often took pages in the back of the national newspapers and none in the tabloids or more sensational supermarket counter weeklies.

Many people who had been charged for molesting some others had been convicted without them complaining about the state of the judiciary. There was no fanfare, no discontent.

In reality, sodomy trials are the ones which are easiest to execute since the evidences are solid and can be proven chemically, and by the relationship that had been created prior to the creation of the sodomy, compared to murder and molest trials.

There is a long scenario that leads a sodomist to come to the point until he succeeds in sodomizing his victim, who at an earlier time may want to have such a peculiar relationship between two consenting men.

But somehow religious factors soon crept into the consciousness of the victim so now he is a victim of someone else’s lust.

And herein lies the trials, which are not new in Malaysia.

In the past sodomy cases and trials had been executed expeditiously without those who had been charged and convicted creating a ruckus; they accept it as their fate, and walk to prison to service their sentences without complaining.

And recently a man was convicted of sodomy and was sentenced to thirty-seven years in jail with fifteen lashes of the cane. There was no hoopla, no sideshows, except the announcement o the sentence.

However, if the alleged sodomists are some who want to test the court, they can, but they have to pay a huge price for it, and having to bear a huge financial costs for the emolument of the panel of lawyers who are all too eager to serve them in the trials that can be stretched beyond any stretch of the imagination.

The longer they are stretched, the better for them, as the trials can give them a lot of attention and also activity.

And this part concerns alibis.

The defense team had tried to introduce an alibi to the court for its consideration.

Alibis that appear from nowhere and all of a sudden, long after the case had been exposed and the trial started can cause every member of the public, never mind the persecution and the judges, to feel suspicious.

The brief scenario created by the defense does not make it sound to be sound enough, without it crashing on its own weight.

Alibis are normally offered very early in the case, when it first appeared in public, if it is too obvious that the physical factor and element can cause charges be instantly dropped.

However, once this physical factor and element could not been created and produced, then it will be very difficult for anyone, let alone the defense team to create one after so long.

And the most damaging and dangerous part about producing alibis that involve other characters is that there are strings of events leading each of the character to the physical entity, so that they all agree with each other and there are no ‘plot holes’ for the persecution and judges to walk or drive through effortlessly.

So we can say, bye-bye to late alibis, especially those that involve other persons, since the persons have to justify that they were not elsewhere at the material time when they were said to be in the company of the accused.

How can this happen if indeed there were no such persons?

There can be some who can agree to be there, even when they were not there at all, especially if the hours prior to the happening or gathering, they were not in the company of the others who can bear witness to their whereabouts.

But their conscience can later act up, especially when in older age, and when they become more pious that guilt creeps in so they will want to spill the beans on what had actually happened, in the alibi which had managed to allow the accused to go scott-free.

This can happen if just one of the characters becomes guilty.

Alibis, therefore, can be damaging in the short-run as well as long-runs.

So, its best to go away with any of them unless if they are facts which could not be denied or disputed.

But after so long, and with no real alibi, chances are there is none that the defense can use to their advantage.

For now it’s bye-bye to late alibis…and the best method is to delay the trial for as long as possible and necessary. And the long it goes on, it just means and logically too, that there is truth in the charges.

Since lies can be disputed so easily, but not truth which is fail-safe.

So, don’t let any lawyer allows anyone to think that sodomy cases are more difficult to prove in court than molest ones.

KENAPA ENGGAN MASUK SEKOLAH KEBANGSAAN SEMASA KECIL, TAPI BERIA-IA MAHU MASUK KE UNIVERSITI ALIRAN KEBANGSAAN SAMPAI MAHU KECAM KERAJAAN?

…KENAPA TIDAK TUNTUT DIBUKA UNIVERSITI (IPTA) UNTUK PELAJAR ALIRAN MANDARIN DAN TAMIL UNTUK HAK BELAJAR DALAM ALIRAN BAHASA IBUNDA SENDIRI SEPANJANG HAYAT?
Oleh Mansor Puteh.

MAHUKAH PEMIMPIN CINA DAN TAMIL TUNTUT KERAJAAN MEMBENARAN MEREKA TUBUH UNIVERSITI MANDARIN MALAYSIA (UMM atau UniManma) DAN UNIVERSITI TAMIL MALAYSIA (UniTam)?

Sekarang Melayu masih lagi kecil jumlahnya, belum sampai tujuh-puluh peratus.

– BAHAGIAN II.

...BOLEHKAH SEJARAH BERULANG, BILA JUMLAH MELAYU MENINGKAT IKUT PEREDARAN ZAMAN, DAN NEGARA MENJADI LEBIH MELAYU?
oleh Mansor Puteh.

INGGERIS MENDATANGKAN ORANG CINA DAN INDIA KE SINGAPURA SEMATA-MATA UNTUK MENAMBAHKAN JUMLAH PENDUDUK ASING SEDANGKAN MEREKA BOLEH DAPATKAN LEBIH BANYAK ORANG MELAYU DARI INDONESI. TETAPI MEREKA TIDAK BERBUAT DEMIKIAN.

MEREKA TIDAK MEMBAWA ATAU MENGGALAKKAN ORANG MELAYU DARI RIAU DAN PULAU-PULAU LAIN DI SELATAN SINGAPURA ATAU DARI PULAU JAWA DAN SUMATERA MAUPUN DARI MALAYA, SEBAB TUJUAN MEREKA HANYA UNTUK MENGECILKAN JUMLAH PENDUDUK MELAYU UNTUK AKHIRNYA MENYINGKIRKAN HAK DAN KUASA MELAYU DI SINGAPURA.

KISAH SEPERTI INI BUNYI SEPERTI SEBUAH DONGENG. MASAKAN SEBUAH KESULTANAN MELAYU BOLEH DIHAPUSKAN DENGAN BEGITU MUDAH?! TETAPI IA BENAR.
