KUALA LUMPUR SUMMIT, 2019: SUMMIT OF REPEATATIVE CONJECTURES WHILE THE ENEMIES OF MUSLIMS LAUGH.

By Mansor bin Puteh

Why are the leaders of Muslim countries giving reports which are evident to all in their speeches? They are never good at sharing analyses of the issues they want to discuss and much worse, to propose tangible projects for Muslim countries to implement.

And surely, there is none of them who will suggest that there is a rival to Facebook so all Muslim countries can later ban or block Facebook, to render it useless like what China has done.

If it was so easy for one Harvard ‘dropout’ to introduce and create and develop Facebook, then surely it will be much easier for the fifty-seven Muslim countries in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to do because they have political power over their countries to block or ban Facebook, for instance.

So it is happening again for the second time, the Kuala Lumpur Summit, from 17 to 20 December, 2019 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC). Unfortunately, two leaders from Pakistan and Indonesia who had earlier agreed to participate in it, made an about turn at the last minute, to not do so.

And the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) with its headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia spawned the Summit citing how it could further fragment the already fragile loose coalition of fifty-seven (57) Islamic countries that was formed in 1969, with the proposal by former first Malaysian prime minster, Tunku Abdul Rahman who was duly elected to be its first secretary-general from 1971 to 1973 based in Jeddah where it still remained.

So the OIC has been around for a long while now and it has still not shown any positive results on the unity of the Muslim Ummah.

And the organizations or agencies that it had caused to establish notably, ISESCO which is comparable to UNESCO of the United Nations (UN) has also not done anything spectacular.

Worse, the people or countries that the OIC has been targeting to be its nemesis have gone on to achieve wonders notably concerning the issue of Palestine whereby Israel has managed to wrest or steal more land and displace more Palestinians as a result.

And to add to that even countries that have significant number of Muslims such as Myanmar, China and now India have become so brazen in their quest to expel them with China having done the worst by detaining and putting one to three million Uyghurs in concentration camps they allege to be ‘reeducation centers’.

However, a four hundred-page document written in Mandarin spelling out the motives in detaining the Uyghurs and how they ought to be treated had been exposed with the Chinese Communist government now alluding to its veracity because it was a genuine document.

And taking the heed is Myanmar which has been doing similar misdeeds on the Rohingyas for ages, by burning down their villages and forcing them to flee by land to neighboring Bangladesh and Thailand or by sea to Indonesia and Malaysia where hundreds of thousands of them live in exile as refugees with some who have been relocated to America or other countries mostly in the west.

Myanmar received a boost with their close relationship with Israel which had been known and which possess the talent and unique ability to expel the Palestinians from their land albeit with the full support of America’s UN vetoes and massive military and financial aid, that allowed its leaders to escape persecution by the international community or the International Court of Justice (ICJ) which Myanmar did not have, so no wonder this country was recently dragged to the ICJ to answer charges leveled against them with a motion from The Gambia, and not from other bigger Muslim country, who themselves are also embroiled in some sort of indecency that could also merit their leaders to be dragged to the same ICJ.

Meanwhile China, the largest country to oppress the Uyghurs seemed or thought they were able to escape international scrutiny, has suddenly found that this may not necessarily be the case.

They have UN veto power to use when necessary, but not necessarily ultimate retribution from some unseen force in the near or distant future, simply because its economy is totally dependent on countries in the Muslim Bloc whose leaders have never tried to use the purchasing power that the 1.9 billion Muslims have.

Then came in India, a country equally large but not yet an economic power house compared with China has suddenly thought that they, too, could show less sympathy to the Muslim in Kashmir which is a territory not yet part of their territory but a disputed one with neighboring Pakistan whose only claim to it is the fact that most Kashmiris are Muslims so they have the irredentist claim over it, so they thought.

And it may be correct because their demand for a referendum may do them this favor since most Kashmiris would definitely want to side with Pakistan where Muslims are the majority as opposed to India where they could see themselves fitting into the minority role if ever their territory was to be handed to India in any referendum, or war.

For the moment, and in the style used by the Israelis, India too had started to partition Kashmir by cutting internet lines and enforcing curfew and not allowing Muslims there to practice their religion of Islam, a style used by China but in worse ways, by even taking away children to force them to renounce Islam and for the pious Muslims to force them to eat pork and drink liquor, which are forbidden by Islam.

Many masjid, most which are older then Communism in China have been demolished, and some closed for use by the local Uyghurs for praying. Fasting too is not allowed and teaching Islam to children, stopped.

And sadly, at the KL Summit that is being held in Kuala Lumpur, such issues can only be raised. But ideas and proposals coming from the very persons whose only rise to fame is the election held in their respective countries, and experts they feel good to be with, none of what they say will mean anything to those Muslims who are in China, India, Myanmar and other countries.

In fact, the Ninth 2019 Report on Islamophobia written by experts that the OIC had engaged shows how far behind they are in this scandal that some of the Arab countries had also caused to be created for which they could never find any way or venue to solve, being part of the problems themselves.

So indirectly the creation of the OIC and now the organization of the KL Summit may be very good for the enemies of the Muslims because they can never be able to do much to change the situation simply because the leaders of the countries that represent them in the OIC and KL Summits lack the turpitude and intellect to study the real issues and problems so they can never be able to find any meaningful solution to them.

And this explains why the problems faced by Muslims in the said countries had become worse since the establishment of the OIC in 1969 and the KL Summit in 2012, because those who are invited to attend them and to offer their views are simply not qualified.

They only seek political solutions when the real solutions can be found in many other ways, one of which is to promote World Muslim Unity.
